Toy Drive

Individuals and Businesses are invited to participate by donating wrapped gifts (no more than $30 in value) for local children this holiday season. Gifts should be accompanied by a note indicating what the item is and the age range it would be best for. We are looking for gifts for children ages 1 to 18 years old.

Gifts can be dropped off in advance at the Nathaniel Rogers House Tuesdays to Saturdays 11am to 5pm or bring them with you to the event. All gifts will then be given to the Bridgehampton Child Care & Recreation Center to be distributed to our community.

Designer Guidelines & Parameters

Size

  • Trees: Maximum height of 3 feet, including the stand or base.

  • Wreaths: Maximum recommended diameter of 30 inches.

  • Centerpieces: Maximum recommended footprint of approximately 24" x 24" and height of 24 inches.

  • If your design falls outside these dimensions, please contact the Museum in advance for approval.

Lighting & Electricity

  • All lighting and illuminated elements must be battery powered.

  • No electrical plugs, extension cords, or hard-wired lighting may be used.

  • Battery packs should be safely enclosed or concealed whenever possible.

  • Designers are responsible for providing batteries for their piece at the time of delivery.

  • Please use LED lighting wherever possible to minimize heat and fire risk.

Materials & Safety

  • Designs must be stable and able to stand securely without being held or attached to a wall, table, or other structure.

  • Avoid materials that are particularly fragile, sharp, hazardous, or likely to shed excessively.

  • No open flames, candles, incense, pyrotechnics, or flammable liquids may be incorporated.

  • Please avoid loose glitter, confetti, or materials that may create excessive cleanup.

  • Any adhesives, paints, finishes, or other materials should be fully cured and dry before delivery.

  • Designs should not contain food or other perishable materials unless specifically approved by the Museum.

Display & Installation

  • Designs should arrive fully assembled and ready for display.

  • The Museum will provide display tables or other appropriate surfaces.

  • Designers should not plan on requiring wall mounting, ceiling suspension, electrical connections, or specialized installation.

  • Any special display requirements must be discussed with the Museum in advance.

  • Please ensure that the finished piece can be safely moved by two people if necessary.

Auction Considerations

  • Each piece will be offered for auction during the Winter Design Auction.

  • Designers are encouraged to create pieces that are visually compelling, distinctive, and appealing to a broad audience.

  • Please consider the eventual purchaser when selecting materials and construction methods; designs should be reasonably durable and transportable.

  • The Museum will provide an identification card for each piece including the designer's name and a brief description.

  • Designers are encouraged to provide a suggested retail value for their piece for promotional and informational purposes.

  • Designers may include a business card, small promotional card, or other information with their piece for the eventual purchaser.

Delivery & Pickup

  • Designers will be provided with a specific delivery date and time prior to the event.

  • All pieces must arrive by the designated deadline.

  • Designers are responsible for delivering their completed work to the Museum unless other arrangements have been made.

  • Unsold or purchased pieces must be collected according to the Museum's designated pickup schedule.

  • Designers should provide appropriate packaging or a box/container for transporting the piece after the auction whenever possible.

Creative Direction

There is no required theme or aesthetic for the designs. We encourage designers to interpret the winter season in their own way and to create work that reflects their individual style.

Designs may be traditional, contemporary, whimsical, artistic, minimal, natural, or unexpected. The Museum particularly welcomes designs that demonstrate originality, craftsmanship, and creative use of materials.

Most importantly, have fun with it!

Please contact the Bridgehampton Museum before beginning your design if you have any questions about size, materials, lighting, installation, or anything else that may affect the display or safety of your piece.
