A Line, A Shape, A Tool & RUSSELL MALTZ: PAINTED/STACKED/SUSPENDED “MAKING ITSELF”

The Bridgehampton Museum invites the public to celebrate the opening of two new exhibitions on Thursday, October 1, from 6 to 8pm at the Tractor Barn, 2368 Montauk Highway, Bridgehampton.

A Line, A Shape, A Tool brings together work by Will Corwin, Pooneh Maghazehe, Russell Maltz, and Sun You, exploring sculpture through geometry, material, form, utility, and the human impulse to create. Originally presented by Geary in Salisbury, Connecticut, the exhibition brings four distinct approaches to contemporary sculpture into dialogue.

Also on view is RUSSELL MALTZ: PAINTED/STACKED/SUSPENDED “MAKING ITSELF,” a survey of more than four decades of Maltz’s materially driven approach to abstract painting and sculpture. Using industrial materials and site-specific installations, Maltz challenges traditional definitions of painting, sculpture, and abstraction.
