Winter Interns

Writer's picture: Connor FlanaganConnor Flanagan

The Bridgehampton Museum has been exceptionally lucky this last year to have an amazing handful of young people looking to gain experience in the museum field! One of the key things I credit in my past that helped me get to where I am today, is the time I spent as an intern at various museum's learning the ins and outs of this job and I am always thrilled to be able to curate a space for young people to spend some time and see if this is the right place for them. Below you can read a little bit about the interns we have had recently and if you are interested in volunteering with us or know someone who is click the button below to find out more!

Kaylee Mendelman

Kaylee began working with the Bridgehampton Museum this past summer joining us in July as an intern after moving back from to East Hampton. She just graduated from the University of Denver with a degree in Anthropology and International Studies. The Bridgehampton Museum was awarded the Young Scholarship Grant by the Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation this past summer which gave us the ability to pay Kaylee for her time with us. After the completion of her internship, we were very happy to hire her as our Museum Assistant.

Today Kaylee helps with the general operation of the museum on a day to day basis and you may have met her if you stopped in for a visit this year greeting guests as they enter the museum and giving tours. She also has been working along side our collections manager to help organize our collection. This winter Kaylee has been directly working with our interns to continue this project.

Avani Woolsey

Avani joined us first this past summer as an intern working alongside Kaylee. As she went back to school for the fall semester we thought that was the end of her time with us. But we were all pleasantly surprised that as she returned for winter break, Avani asked if she could volunteer some more and pick up where she left off with her work this past summer to which we happily obliged!

She is currently a second-year student at the University of St Andrews studying Ancient History and Archaeology. She hopes to pursue a career in the cultural heritage field and enjoys learning about museum operations and collections.

Aiden O’Sullivan

Aiden grew up in NYC before attending university at Maryland Institute College of Art, where she graduated with her bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts. She enthusiastically joined the Bridgehampton Museum in order to contribute to the preservation of local history as well as lesser known art history. Aiden is an intern assisting museum staff in collections organization, and day to day operations.

Kara Clark

Kara Clark is a senior at Marist University majoring in History, Spanish, and Global Studies. She plans to pursue a master’s degree in museum studies after graduating in May. At the museum she helps categorize books and organize the library for future researchers. She enjoys the small scale of the museum that allows a close understanding of the history of Bridgehampton and connection with the community.
